After world war 2 , taxis increased rapidly in the island, because  its fare is considered relatively low  compared to those in most cities in developed countries , taxi has become popular form of public transport in the island. It is operated by seven taxi companies and independent drivers. Driver must be able to converse and write basic English , clean driving record and courtesy to passenger .
